Sail by Felucca to the Nile Islands from Aswan

No trip to Egypt would be complete without sailing in a traditional felucca on the sparkling waters of the mighty Nile.

This delightful excursion starts with a short trip by felucca across the Nile to Elephantine Island, the largest river island in the area. Here you will find artefacts dating from the pre-Dynastic times as well as a Roman Nilometer. Sail onto Kitchener’s Island, where you will discover a wonderful botanic garden containing many exotic and foreign species of plants and trees from all around the world.

Take a relaxing stroll among the shaded trees and tropical flowers and then head to the banks of the Nile for the chance to view the pink granite Mausoleum of Aga Khan. This well educated spiritual leader and statesmen became one of the richest men in the world and after his death in 1957 was buried on a hill top over looking the city of Aswan. Although the mausoleum is no longer open to the public, it remains one of Egypt’s most visited princely shrines.
